Azure Information Protection client Unified Labeling and classic AIP client

There are currently two Azure Information Protection programs for Windows:

  • Azure Information Protection unified labeling client , is a newer version that supports unified labeling storage and supports many applications and services. Gets labels and policy settings from one of the following administrative centers: Office 365 Security & Compliance Center, Microsoft 365 security center, Microsoft 365 compliance center. This customer is now recommended for use.
  • Classic Azure Information Protection Client , the first version of the client. Gets labels and policy settings from Azure Portal. This client is based on previous versions of the service and we do not recommend using it.
